In 2008, Prionics broadened its sampling device range through the acquisition of the SwissforensiX AG product line. SwissforensiX AG was a spin off of the Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University of Berne. This acquisition enhances Prionics’ product range for degradation-sensitive samples to include DNA samples for person identification, criminal evidence collection, paternity testing and genotyping. Prionics is marketing this product line under the new label forensiX.
ABOUT THE forensiX PRODUCT LINE
The core product is a DNA sampling swab and tube which completely dries the sample in the tube. This is an innovative device offering increased benefits in comparison to commonly know swab and tube products.

* DNA-free means: Any DNA, that might contaminate the swab or tube during the manufacturing process, is degraded to such small fragments that no human profile can be generated with PCR amplification methods.
