Frequently asked questions
Here you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions.
What are the benefits of the forensiX sample tubes?
forensiX sample tubes feature a patented evidence collection and preservation technique. The fast drying mechanism avoids the biological degradation of the samples collected and allows cost savings to be made in the lab due to a lower sample failure rate when compared to conventional (non-drying) sample tubes. The system also allows transport and storing at ambient temperature eliminating the costs associated with special transportation such as cooling and/or freezing.
What are the advantages of the forensiX sample tubes compared to conventional products?
· professional and low priced evidence collection
· avoiding contamination and sample mix-up, no pre drying required
· no in-tube DNA degradation by micro-organisms
· fewer follow-up costs due to high success rates in DNA analysis
. no costs for cooling and freezing
Why a forensiX tube with desiccant?
Humidity promotes the growth of bacteria, spores and fungi that degrade DNA. The desiccant preserves the collected evidence. This increases analytical success of generating a DNA profile. The desiccant also enables the samples to be securely archived for years.
What does “DNA-free” mean?
The forensiX sample tubes and swabs are treated with ethylene oxide (EO). EO divides DNA strands into many small pieces. The small DNA pieces are unable to produce a human DNA profile. Without such EO treatment, any DNA which might have contaminated the forensiX tube or swab during manufacturing, could otherwise be amplified in an analytical lab to produce a human profile. more
How is DNA contamination avoided after the EO treatment?
The production of the forensiX sample tubes is carried out in specially equipped labs. The last step of the production is made under inert gas in a glove bag avoiding any human contact. more
Which quality guarantees can I expect?
ISO 9001, 17025, 13485, 11135CE 0483
What are the requirements for custom made products?
A purchase order of custom made products must have a sales amount of not less than 50’000 CHF, which must be based on existing components of the standard products. more
Where are the forensiX products used?
- Switzerland, Liechtenstein
- EU: Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Spain, Slovenia, The Netherlands
- USA
- Testing phase in: UK, Israel, Turkey, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand
Prionics to deliver evidence collection kits to the French Ministry of the Interior
Prionics has secured a tender for DNA evidence collection kits in France. The tender encompasses the nationwide delivery of forensiX tubes to the Gendarmerie Nationale and the Police Nationale for the collection of evidence at crime scenes in France.
